Backyard Monsters Guide
Welcome to Backyard Monsters
Backyard Monsters was Kixeye's monster-raising strategy game on Facebook (2010–2013): build up your yard, gather twigs, pebbles, putty and goo, hatch and train monsters, defend against wild monster tribes and raid other players' yards. It's playable again thanks to the Backyard Monsters Refitted team (source on GitHub), who restored the game's client and rebuilt its server from scratch. L.O.S hosts their server and their client, with one change: you sign in with your L.O.S account.
Getting in
- Get the L.O.S launcher from losfarms.xyz/launcher. It has Flash Player built in.
- Sign in with your L.O.S account and pick L.O.S Backyard Monsters in the games hub.
- Press Play. Gorgo the monster walks you through your first buildings.
Your yard
- Resources (top left): twigs, pebbles, putty and goo, made by the Twig Snapper, Pebble Shiner, Putty Squisher and Goo Factory and kept in Storage Silos.
- Shiny (top bar): the game's premium currency. Here it's handed out by the game (you start with some, and mushrooms and quests give more); it is never sold.
- Buildings: resource buildings, defensive towers, traps, the Hatchery, the Monster Locker and more, from the Buildings button.
- Quests: the list at the bottom right; finishing them gives rewards.
- Monsters: unlock them in the Monster Locker, hatch them in the Hatchery and send them to raid.
Saving
The game saves to the server as you play, and your yard is there whenever you come back, on any computer.
